Assessment Day
- You can apply online – Ryanair/Crewlink post ads everywhere – on job sites such as Indeed and LinkedIn.
- You will be invited for an assessment day – if in London, that could be at a hotel by Stansted Airport.
- On the assessment day we found out if we were successful of not – they either say ‘Yes’, ’No’ or ‘Improve your English’.
- I noticed people were not as pristine as on the BA assessment day, but everyone still looked cute.
- Interviewers were ex-cabin crew and actually quite friendly. They really tried to bring out the best of you in the 1-on-1 interview Especially when they asked questions like “what 3 words would you use to describe yourself?”
- Their main goal is to recruit as many people as possible since the employee turnover is very high.
- before the assessment day they ask you to bring in a few things (will be detailed in your invitation email)
- only about 3 out of 50-60 people were rejected – because they weren’t fluent in English, whereas with BA over 60-70% of 50-60 people were rejected throughout the day
- I noticed with BA there was also much more diversity in the applicants – Not so much with Ryanair.
How to have a SUCCESSFUL day
- Be fluent in English
- Try to have all you paperwork in order – passport, full length photos, etc (items will be detailed in your invitation email)
- Dress relatively smart (follow cabin crew guidelines) / grooming manual
After the Assessment day
- After the Assessment day, they send you an email stating if you have been successful or not
- If successful, they immediately assign you to a base, (detailed in the email) and invite you for a training course
- The training course could be anywhere, mine was in Hahn, Germany
- Some people train in Madrid – Spain 🇪🇸 or Bergamo – Italy 🇮🇹 (not sure of other locations)
- If you are available you can reserve your place on the course, if not, then you can tell them you would like to wait for a later course date, OR reject the offer.
Here is the Assessment Day Video.
Be sure to stay tuned for part 2 & 3 where I discuss the training course and my first day on the job!
Until the next post,
